MIT, Harvard, Caltech, etc.?

Thank you!

You’re definitely more qualified than most people applying. Let us know if you get accepted next month :). Also, is there a reason why you didn’t apply to Caltech early as well?

I don’t think we met at ISEF, but I do remember seeing your board in the math section because it was really well put together; we might have some mutual friends or something.

In my opinion it would be a huge mistake on your part to go two years early to college. The prestigious colleges dont particularly want underage kids. You can come across as too one dimensional. I think you should wait a couple of years to go to college

@girl1425  I didn’t apply to Caltech early because MIT’s my dream, and I wanted to focus all my energy on it. @tiger1307 Although I haven’t written this on my application, my visa expires next year as well, so I’d really like to go to college early to continue utilizing the opportunities which will be available to me.

Oh, I’ve also won some volunteering awards, and some others for supporting the environment.

Try extending your visa. I think you would be a lot better off. Are you an international asking for financial aid also?

@tiger1307 I don’t think I need too much financial aid. I don’t know anything about extending my visa, but the fact that my dad commutes to Denver as well means that I’ll have only one or two classses at my high school next year (which is a major reason for me wanting to graduate early).

Hmmm well let’s try this out. Assuming I’m a senior, which I’m not, and I’ve finished all my foreign-language requirements, etc., how do I stand as an applicant?

Just a question: How did you take AP calculus BC in 8th grade? Did you just self study and take it?

@AcceptableName I studied myself for the first half of the year, and my school then moved me into the class for the second half. But I had already learnt calc in third grade, so the class was simply a review for me. I took all the other AP tests fully by self-studying.

bump

Definitely think you’re a viable candidate for tech schools like MIT.

Thanks!

Update: adMITted!!!

^ Congratulations! You are obviously exceptionally qualified. I hope you are ready to make the huge leap to being away from home and in a college environment. If so, I have no doubts that you will excel.

@renaissancedad Thank you very much!

@ILoveUniv Is money a factor in taking classes? I know of some pretty stellar online classes ( while costing a lot of money- probs $500 to $1,000) offered by elite institutions. Just message me or whatever  I share the same desire as you in learning, so i definitely understand the struggle of having a curriculum not best-suited to your academic interests.

@ILoveUniv Congrats! What do you plan on majoring in?

@AcceptableName Probably math; if I double major, then physics, or a minor in linguistics or computer science :o)

@jackisawesome It’s not just the money factor; I also want to have some sense of community, which is, unfortunately, not offered via online classes. :o)
