@ADA110 PM me your Facebook, I’ll add you
They made the FB group secret. BTW there’s a session 1 group chat as well, @ADA110 join that as well.
do you know how I could join this group chat? @thekidnextdoor
2 days and 7 hours!
@an424harv Add him to the chat.
@ADA110 Launch sent out an email with information for joining the facebook group I believe
Should I be worried now that I still haven’t gotten an interview yet? I seriously doubt that they’ll send out interviews this close to the notification date.
@treeroot yeah same. I’m pretty sure that means rejection Results come out in 3 days and I doubt they’ll interview us like the day before.
Hiya! Just a few days left, but I want to clarify that for those who have been interviewed, the time from interview to admissions is extremely variable depending on when the admissions committee reviews different types of applicants, so please do not read too much into if you have not heard anything a few days after an interview. Some people are notified a few days after interview; some might be notified of their decision a couple of weeks after.
Good luck everyone!
Facebook group/chat invites will be emailed out to accepted students after all decisions are made. Right now we’re focused on wrapping up admissions Thanks for your patience!

“It’s not usually $6000?”
Does Launch disclose its financials somewhere? Until then, I’m going to assume that the vast majority of students attending are paying full price. $6000+ for 4 weeks (not including food). For that price, you can get at 5-6 weeks and college credit at other programs. Why don’t you aspiring entrepreneurs take that ~$7000 (including airfare, food etc) and build an app with your programming friends over the summer? Maybe target something local–something that larger app companies don’t think is worth their time. Seems like that would be far more impressive on a college application, and more fun too. Just my opinion.
@redseas Same
@redseas - Agreed. Compared to other programs, I don’t know as much about this program. There’s not a definite price on how much the program actually costs, and the cost of food is not included. Now I’m actually regretting that I decided to decline my acceptance at Duke TIP.
@timallen @Treeroot I’m thinking of starting something with two or three students from my school. I started out thinking that I might pay them: 3 ‘employees’ for 8 weeks of work ($10/hr, 25 hrs/week) = $6000, still cheaper than the cost of MIT Launch, right? But I bet my friends would be totally excited and happy just getting ‘paid’ in pizza and snacks everyday So we’ll probably all just work for free–as equals–on a cool project/app of some kind but I’ll pay the business costs etc. Haven’t decided what I want to build yet, (busy with AP test prep), but it’s going to be fun! To me, this is the kind of summer experience that is both awesome and makes an application more interesting.
@redseas very few people pay 6000. I know many that do not pay anything
@redseas very few people pay that amount. I know many who receive a full scholarship
@DrScienceScD - As far as I know, scholarships are only given out to those who may not be able to pay for all of the tuition. However, for those applicants who are able to pay for all of it, they won’t be able to get any of the scholarship. Yes, they are able to pay more, but $6000 can still be a lot.
@Treeroot nearly all of us this year received a lot of aid. I guarantee price will not be an issue for anyone accepted. Launch is fairly new so I’m sure in the future Launch will get sponsors. Also, do you think you can change your mind about declining Duke Tip? That’s a good program!
@DrScienceScD - I had to make a decision on Duke TIP by the end of the first week of February, so I can’t do anything to reverse that decision. They tend to fill up their spots quickly too, so even if I could reverse my decision I wouldn’t even be able to secure a spot in their program at this time of the year.
