I just got accepted into the 2 week summer program where I’ll be building doppler radars and attending lectures and such. Does anyone know anything about this program? Is transportation free, dorms, are we free to roam on weekends aside from the museum and social events? I’m super psyched to be staying at MIT for a few weeks in Cambridge, but I’d like to know more of what I’m gonna expect when I get there. I’m hoping anyone who’s been in the program can help. Thanks!
I attended LLRISE last year, so I can give my perspective on things. EVERYTHING is free about the program, except you have to get your own transportation there and back I think. They give you a meal card w/ $100+ that you can use over the week at any food place over at MIT, which is more money than you’ll ever use tbh. You get back from Lincoln Lab at about 6pm every day, and the rest of the day/night is free for you to do homework/chill time. On the weekends, they take you into boston where you can do whatever you want, and its solely dedicated to hanging out. LLRISE was such a great experience and if you have any more questions, just ask!
@jason12321 Wow, $100 in a meal card? Any food place?! I’m so excited now! Wow.
And I was born in Boston but moved down to Florida when I was 7 and have lived there since. If I remember correctly though, there is a train that goes from MIT to Lexington, correct? Because I’m planning on getting a one month train pass to take the train every morning to the laboratory.
And afterwards I’ll be staying with family the rest of July after the program so I’m planning to have it last the whole month till I fly back home. Does this sound like an alright plan for transportation, or is there something else, like a bus? Thanks!
