Mit msrp 2018

Has anyone heard anything yet? Technically today IS mid March, the 15th day of the month. Honestly don’t think that I made it but I just need an answer so I can move on. I guess this is how it feels to be led on o.o

NOTHING. My Spring break starts this Saturday and I’ll be in Zion, i.e, no signal/WiFi, until Mar.25. So hopefully I can get update tomorrow.

I emailed MIT MSRP on 14th march and this what they replied:

Dear Harsh,

Thank you for your interest in MSRP General! We are working hard to ensure that the application review process moves quickly and efficiently; at this point, we are still in the midst of the process. We are hoping to issue final admissions decisions in the next two weeks but, unfortunately, cannot release any early decisions at this time.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any additional questions.

Best,
Ashley

@Battosai Thanks for the info! It seems like they will not send out waitlist email this year so it’s possible that we were/are on the waitlist.

In the next two weeks!!! Oh my god I’m going to go insane… @camillalxyyy why do you think that we are/were on the waitlist? O.o Honestly if that’s the case I’m just going to take up my other offers. Like they’ve had 3 months to review all of the apps. 3 months!! That’s 5 work days a week, for 4 weeks a month (except February) and 3 months. That’s 55 work days in total!

And! What did they mean by not being able to release an early decision? There was somebody else on here who already got their decision…

Haha calm down @vanessaL0196 . I guess that because what they release in the next two weeks will be “final decisions”, so there will probably not be waitlist decisions. I think they might need these two weeks to generate decisions from the decisions of the people who got accepted.

I feel like they’re treating us as if we’re the unwanted second choices and if that’s really the case then I’m just going to take up on my other offers who are more than willing to take me in as their first choice tbh.

@vanessaL0196 lol !!! you roasted MIT. Btw what do you guys think the decisions are based more on diversity or academics?

Academics first I guess? Now hopefully I’ll find something useful in my inbox when I return from the middle of nowhere lol

I just received an acceptance letter to MSRP. I applied for nuclear engineering/plasma physics and fusion. I was also accepted to SULI PPPL. I don’t know which one to choose!

@fusioneer go to SULLI. my friend went there last year and if you’re interested in actual plasma and engineering stuff, their projects are much more applicable than the ones at MIT. Also, she is graduating this year and got a direct hiring offer from the Department of Energy because of her time at SULLI.

@Battosai Not roasting anyone. Just speaking the truth. To those will be attending, have fun  I’m rescinding my application next week because I’m better than just somebody’s second pickings.

@vanessaL0196 Yea I was just kidding. Btw which other programs you applied to ?

@Battosai I applied to Lehigh, Columbia, Vanderbilt and Baylor, along with a research program at my school. I already heard back from Columbia, Vanderbilt, Baylor and my school, all acceptances. So if MIT doesn’t take me in I’ll be happy at Columbia’s MRSEC  I hate this sort of disrespectful, condescending behavior from the committee at MIT. If they cannot make their own deadline, then who are they to set a deadline for us? And since they’re MIT, nobody is calling them out on this sort of work ethics. Just an observation.

Has anybody heard acceptance from the mechanical engineering department?

Also, do anybody know if they notify rejection? I’m dying rn haha

@vanessaL0196 that’s awesome!! congrats with all your acceptances. I wish there were more programs for international students but anyways.

Just went back from my 13 miles backpacking trip and found out that I was rejected:( Gotta take some summer courses to graduate a year earlier than! Good luck to y’all who’s still waiting!

@camillalxyyy Aw no! I’m so sorry :frowning: At least you now have some closure to move on
