ive taken part in various competitions (and won a few) like modem (it's a computer competition), science fairs, and i'm a prefect (which is like a school captain....ten students out of 160 are selected)..and im hoping to become the head boy this year as well.....
i have finished more than 300 hours of social work teaching poor and illiterate children
(30 hours in the required amount for an A grade by school ).
I have also collected about 15-20 certificates from 9th-12th

I am also trying to get my friend and my design of emergency brakes for elevators using magnetic levitation pateneted.

Will i be able to make it into MIT (i know nothing is for sure..it all depends on them) ...but i need to know wehter my co-curriculars are up to the mark and wether I'm actually competition to other international kids...nad if they have limited funding for internationals....would they consider me ?

thanks in advance

The competition from India with that kind of money is brutal. Ask your counselor how you stack up to the top students in your country–that what these schools are looking for. Definitely raise the scores.

Dude one option i give you is to join ROTC but i think thats only availabe for US residents… mail me @mrgzg1@gmail.com… i am from India too

what’s ROTC?

oh and what are your achievements…just want to know what kind of people are applying to mit from india and wether im even competiton to them …or am i just making castles in the air…?

MIT is usually a reach… though your stats are pretty impressive (very impressive, I wish I had your SAT and SAT II scores, lol)…
Um, 2200 is good, you could try for 2300 but MIT has rejected students with 2400… so remember grades & SAT aren’t everything (although they are v. important). You do have the EC too so I think you should be fine, MIT is def. not a high reach for you, though I don’t know whether you’ll get in or not but I think you have a pretty good chance.

@ virenarora:
ROTC is the Reserve Officers’ Training Corp…
I think for most people… MIT is somewhat of a reach because it can be hard to predict who they’ll accept, but I’d suggest to just go for it because in the end… you never know…

Good Luck to all of us!! ^-^

Caltech and stanford are need - aware so you might have problems there
MIT however is need - blind but kinda more selective
In my opinion
all three of them are reaches (as for everyone), do you have any safety choices?
chance me back?

all are reaches just like the rest of us. good luck :D
