At this point I just want to know so I can start making arrangements for next year!

Have you guys gotten in anywhere else? I got into UC Berkeley / UCLA, rejected from CalTech.

MIT is the only school I applied for transfer. I am excited to find out if I will be making the 2 hour, 128 mile journey eastward to Cambridge! :)

@mathbro
Awesome news about Berkely!

I’ll probably hear back from RPI and WPI in late May.

Let’s start a friendly betting pool for when MIT will release decisions. The buy-in is 10 brownie points, and the spoils will be divided among the winners.

I’m placing my bet for Friday, May 3rd.

Finally . . . guessing games!! That would create the illusion of making the time go faster.

. . . placing my bet for Monday, May 6th.

@mathbro, still waiting for 4 other schools’ decisions. I got rejected from caltech too (You got the decision yesterday right?) lol

Congrats about the Berkeley admittance though.

My bet goes to May 10th!

Thanks guys! For mathematics major Berkeley is a strong contender against MIT, especially for me since I wont have to relocate across the US and since I got a full ride at Berkeley. It will be a tough decision should I get accepted to MIT!

@mathbro
Congrats on getting into Berkeley.

My backup school is in SoCal, and I miss California a lot, so at least there is a built-in silver lining if I don’t make it into MIT.

I’m going to be that one person and guess long. May 15th.

mathbro, you will fulfill your dream and be happy wherever you go! You have an awesome story and I’m really excited for you!

I’m with ya on the silver lining. Berkeley close to friends and family and mammoth mountain / lake tahoe. MIT is well… MIT and has been my dream for years. I think either way I’ll be happy and for that I’m really thankful!

@atari

aww thank you!

@afrogenius

yeah I got the letter yesterday. Left in the middle of lab to check! haha

Summary:

May 3rd - Joeycalifornia
May 6th - Afrogenius
May 10th - Mathbro
May 15th - Atari1994

Of course, I wouldn’t put it past MIT to release decisions on Star Wars Day (May the 4th) even though it is a Saturday. Not changing my bet though.

Yes, May the 4th be with us all.

That would be absolutely brilliant.

Somehow I’m getting these terrible worried thoughts that the number of open seats might be very limited this year. I have to somehow also study for a calculus test. I’m not getting any sleep tonight.

Must focus on math. And images of cuddly kittens.

I gotta go with mathbro and say that decisions will be released on May 10th! Still, I would love joeycalifornia to be right on this one!

That could very well be true, but there could also be a million other reasons as to why the decision date is later than it has been historically. I just don’t think a different decision date necessitates bearish sentiment without any more information to go by. So, I’m remaining positive for now :)

I wish it was tomorrow… but with brownie points at stake I’m gonna have to go with May 7, somehow it just feels right ;)

goinouttamymind

I’m gonna go with May 9!

@joey

Sorry. That was just the OCD talking. :)
