MIT Transfer - low ACT Science score, decent Subject Test scores

Hi there,

I am a freshman applying for a transfer to MIT in February and just got back my ACT scores. I got a 35M, 32E, 29R but only a 25S. How badly would this affect my application considering I have decent Subject Test scores 750Phys, 750Chem, 770Math2?

Thanks.

( Also, I don’t think I’ll be able to take any other standardized tests before the February deadline. I have the option to take the TOEFL, but I feel that my ACT scores show that I have a good command of English, and that the TOEFL wouldn’t add anything important to my application. )

Though those scores might not be the most attractive, my guess is that admissions understands that we all have good and bad test days. I feel that the ACT science section does not do a particularly good job of testing students’ knowledge of science regardless. Your subject test scores are pretty good, so that will let them know that you are fully capable of performing well.

I hope so too. Thanks. And congratulations on your acceptance!
