MIT Transfer

Hey Everyone,

I am going to be a sophomore at UIUC this upcoming semester. I am currently trying to get into their CS program, however, I’ve been considering applying to MIT as a transfer. I know getting in is near impossible, but I would still love to try and apply. I am currently sitting at a 3.62 gpa hopefully after a successful semester it’ll be around a 3.75 when I apply to transfer. Would it be more beneficial to wait another semester and try to bring my gpa higher before applying? Or will a 3.75 be a competitive gpa given I am applying from great school and have taken more difficult classes. I am also planning on taking the SAT along with the Math 2 and Physics subject tests. What scores should I be aiming for on these tests to be a more competitive candidate and actually give myself a slim chance of being accepted? Any feedback is appreciated thank you.

Nobody on this board will be able to help you. MIT takes a handful of transfers per year. There just isn’t the pool of experience to answer questions meaningfully. The usual caveats apply. Scores are far from the most important part of the application, but score as high as you possibly can.
