I've looked at all my options school-wise and I think I'm down to these two.
It's going to be a tough decision.
I want to go into business after college and am planning to be a Math major.
Both of these colleges have sweet Greek scenes too.
People tell me I'd be crazy to turn down MIT for Dartmouth but I'm not sure..

Tell me! Would I be crazy to do so or would I have legitimate reasons for picking Dartmouth?

I visited Dartmouth once and left a little cynical but I think I'm over that now and am excited about the fun aspects of the school.
Getting a likely letter from Dartmouth made the school much more awesome of course! :D
I never visited MIT and don't plan to do so till CPW.

I have kids at both schools. They are equally smart. Each would be miserable at the other college. My son at MIT considers himself a nerd and feels he landed with his people. My Dartmouth son is a social butterfly and has also landed among his. Both are extremely happy with the academics.

I think what your career goal is should be an important factor, each has recruiting strengths in very different areas.

If people are telling you not to give up MIT for Dartmouth, I have to guess that they are people not familiar with the 2 schools and are saying this on a name recognition basis. They are entirely different schools for very different kids.

When I said I “sent in my deposit” I actually didn’t do it yet… (I planned to go to the post office at 3 but decided against it at the last minute) I didn’t go to Dartmouth for Dimensions (conflicted with CPW) but visited the week before.
I’ll probably officially decide tomorrow…

It seems like this would be an easy decision if you had some self-knowledge. Remember that you can always send in deposits to both and make your decision later if you must. GL!

It really was a tough decision but I decided on MIT.
I doubt I would turn down MIT for the two schools I’m currently wait-listed at (Harvard and Duke).
