Hi! I’m thinking about applying for MITES but I’m worried about my SAT and PSAT scores. I got 186 on the PSAT and 1860 on the SAT. do you think I have a chance?

The teachers can send their letters of recommendation before the student part of the application is submitted. My science teacher has already submitted hers.

If it helps at all, I took “invent anything” literally and wrote about something I’d love to happen. Realistic? Maybe not, but it’s honest enough, and I like the idea of it.
(I still hope I’m wrong about it’s feasibility >.>)

Ahhh. I don’t know what to do. I have so much ideas and I can’t decide which one to expand on for the invention essay. XDD

As for the test scores, I think I remember people who got accepted without submitting any scores whatsoever. Correct me if I’m wrong. O:

For the issues that you have overcome essay, is it talking about an academic issue or a personal issue?

well, the site does say “personal, social, or academic challenge”, So I’d take that it can be whichever you feel speaks for you best.

Hey guys, just came across this 2 days ago and I am so glad I did. I completely procrastinated on the app and had a ton of questions. Luckily I read through and feel so much better.

Reading through last years and this years threads, I’m guessing that tests and grades only show who can handle the workload. Essays (and recs) are the real dealbreakers on who is and isn’t accepted. I wrote mine as if they were responses for an interview(answer question, support, support, reanswer) not actual formal essays (thesis, firstly…, secondly…, lastly…, summary).

The only question I have is this: Can teachers write their recs while you’re still working on your app, or do you have to finish in order for them to start their recs?

Thanks in advance!
=)

Also, I’m willing to help people with essays, questions, and such.

I’ve been having trouble with my essays. I’ve been working on them for about a week and haven’t been able to come up with a good way to approach them. Would a narrative work? Or would that be too hard because of the word limit?

Azndj22, the teachers can submit their recommendations before you submit your part of the application.

I guess we
ll just have to approach the essays the best way we can express ourselves. I don
t think there`s an exact style of answering they want, is there? O:
Or so I assume.. .__.
I really regret procrastinating. I have to cram all the essays tonight since.. I completely forgot about the January 1 deadline. I haven`t started on any of them either. cries

But uhh… I do have a quick question. Does anyone know the difference between “Last Reminder sent on…” and “Email Received” on the checklist page for the recommendations? Does “Email Received” mean that my teacher clicked on the link on something?

Hi guys!

I’m applying to MITES as well. From what I hear, test scores aren’t that important, but does anybody know if we can superscore (because my math score was just awful when I first took the SAT’s)?

Thanks!

wait are the essays due on January 1st???

Isn’t the application due on January the 15th? Confused . . .

Oh I`m sorry! I typed the wrong date. -__- But yeah, I still have to cram everything, due to schedule problems…
IT`S DUE ON THE 15TH, I MEANNN! Sorryyyy.

I don’t think there’s a particular style. I’m just not that great a writer.

I think “Email received” means the teacher has opened the email but hasn’t submitted the recommendation. It should say “Recommendation submitted on…” then the date it was submitted once the teacher sent the rec. I’m pretty sure “Last reminder” just means an email was sent.

mijukki, mini panic attack >.>

I’d assume “Email received” just means it’s been sent and confirmed to be delivered. Unless there’s some sort of a confirmation link in the email itself (probably), I don’t think there’s any way they could check that the email was actually opened.

I’m sorry. I just re-read what I posted. That’s what I meant by open the email. I should’ve fixed that.

I’ve got pretty much all the essays done, but I’m completely stuck on the racial identity one… gahhhhh
Any ideas? At all? PLEASE

(Ghanaian male, if that helps at all)
