Hi all,

I was accepted to both Clark scholars and MITES, and I am having trouble deciding which one to attend this summer. I was wondering what CCers have to say about the programs and their role in college admissions. I have prior research experience (ISEF, etc.) and I am done with all math and science classes at my school so MITES could be boring, but Clark may be too unknown for college admissions at Harvard et al.

Thanks.

Clark too unknown for Harvard? What planet are you from? Clark is probably the most prestigious and well known summer program other than RSI/SIMR. Almost all Clark scholars go to Ivies or other prestigious schools and you should be extremely grateful for the acceptance. Remember, MITES accepts hundreds of kids, Clark accepts 12. I would choose Clark in a heartbeat.

Does anyone know how impactful MITES’s college requiter fair will be on college admissions to Harvard or Stanford?

“To help students gain a better understanding of how to gain admission to top schools like MIT, students will interact with MIT admissions and financial aid officers through seminars and dinners. Students will also participate in a College Fair with recruiters from 10-20 universities, including MIT, Stanford, and Harvard. During the College Fair, the recruiters will give short presentations and provide students with the opportunity to ask questions.”

Yes, there’s a college fair, but I would still go to Clark, easy. Clark is actually really prestigious. I guess if you don’t want to go, some other kid would be glad to take your spot, though.

Clark. It pays. Clark is considered purely merit based while MITEs is associated with helping minorities. If you got into RSI that woul be considered lot more prestigious.

Okay thanks for your advice guys. I appreciate it.
