Mixed Engineering Dual Degrees?

Reposting here from the Drexel thread.

I'm a materials engineering student but I want to apply for the BS/MS in either EE or ME. I want to broaden my career scope, and i'm also interested in working on intelligent nano systems, especially for computers - which one would be better and is it even a good idea to mix the degrees like this (especially EE since i won't have electrical in undergrad)?

Thanks!!

Don’t bother with a double major. Just go for the specific classes within the other departments you’re interested. Taking a year worth of statics and dynamics probably won’t do a whole lot for intelligent nano systems in computers.

I was referring to a masters degree (BS/MS program), not a second major. My college lets you mix in engineering, so I can do any other masters in the college of engineering. Since I’m going to do the program anyway I was just wondering which field would be useful.

It all depends on what you want to concentrate on. According to this link ([Is nanotechnology mechanical engineering or electrical engineering? - Yahoo! Answers](<a href=“Yahoo | Mail, Weather, Search, Politics, News, Finance, Sports & Videos”>Yahoo | Mail, Weather, Search, Politics, News, Finance, Sports & Videos)) ME is more related to nanotechnology in the material level.
