MN student considering transferring to Pitt! Lots of questions - Social Work major

I go to college at Winona State in Minnesota and I am seriously considering to another school, and from what I’ve seen so far about Pitt it looks amazing. But coming from Minnesota and never have been to Pennsylvania, I am really curious on any opinions or things people would want to say about Pittsburgh, from what I’ve researched it looks really neat.

I am also a little concerned about my standings. When I apply, I will have around 44 credits at my college done and will be attempting 16 more to hopefully get the grand total of 60 credits completed by spring of 2016, any hopefully my GPA will still be at a 3.6 or higher! If I do pursue this, I would come to Pitt fall of 2016. In high school I wasn’t a strong student due to family issues, and graduated with a 3.1 and I scored a 21 on the ACT. Since this college is a little more selective and me being an out of state student, I get nervous about taking such a big leap.

Really if I could get any details about the School of Social Work, the city, and the college I’d love it. I’ve done so much research and so far it all looks amazing. Please feel free to give me a harsh reality if needed!

Thank you.

She won’t be back on campus and checking her social media until September, but if you still have questions at that time, I suggest you reach out to @h2pmichelle on Twitter or Instagram. She is a current student in the School of Social Work and she works for our office showing off the daily life of a Pitt student. You can look through her posts from last semester (and all of the posts from the other students who participated in this project) using #MyPittStory.

If you haven’t come across this page yet in your extensive research, I would also suggest you take a look at our page on the Transfer Admissions Process: https://oafa.pitt.edu/apply/admissions-process/transfers/

If you have questions about the admissions process, please feel free to give our office a call. We would be happy to talk to you about Pitt! 412-624-7488.
