anyone have any experience with this?

Which mock trial are you referring to I participated in a week long mock trial competition called TeenPact Judicial.... they hold these events at law schools around the country, and the University of Georgia and Liberty University have been the last two locations. It's a great program and it's pretty cheap.

I'm a homeschooler, and a Mock Trial particpant through the public charter school. Try to find the publisher of the materials in your state (if by chance you're in CA, it's CRF USA - home) ands see what's their policy on homeschooler particpation. in CA, you can 1) make a team entirely of homeschoolers or 2) join a team at the school where you would normally attend.

I've coached several homeschooled Mock Trial teams. It is open to all public school, private school and home school students. If you are homeschooled, then you'd probably need to be on a homeschooled team.

In my state you simply go to the State Bar Foundation web site and find the info on Mock Trial. We have a teacher coach meeting every year in October. Copies of the mock trial workbook are handed out (it's also available online).

If you have never been to a mock trial competition, then I would suggest that you go to a few this year and observe. This is open to the public. Watch and learn. Mock trial is different from 'real' court as it is simplified.

It's a great experience and I'd recommend it to any high school student. You don't need to be interested in law to get a lot out of the experience.

Any other questions?
