Anyone who is in mock trial, understands this very stressful period before the big competition. I was wondering what cases are other states doing, and how you are preparing for the upcoming contest of the mind.

I don't want to hijack the thread, but how does this work?

My school doesn't have Mock Trial, but it looks fun. What exactly is it?

Well Mock Trial is a competition where you present a case based on some material. It's basically a full court case in a condensed setting. You have to prepare openings, directs, cross-exams, and closing. It's really a good time.

Wow, that sounds awesome. My schools sucks.

did mock trials in law&justice. <3333 every moment of it.

lets see....do u want me 2 describe the trials we had or wut?

Describing the trials would be awesome, since there's a state competition coming up I was wondering if you could give some hints on being a better speaker under all the pressure.

ugh.

Last year we had a death penalty sentencing hearing. That was fun

This year its some radical environementalist and arson. YAWN.

uhhhhh, well we had this school vandalism case, (umm) and then this abused wife who killed her husband (YEAH!) and then drunk girl who froze 2 death due 2 her intoxication (ick).

hints? idk... if ur a witness, try 2 ponder each question on the cross-examination carefully, like try and guess what questions they will give you beforehand.

SPEAK LOUDLY AND CLEARLY, there is nothing worse than someone who mumbles incoherently. Dont speak too fast or too slow. look ur cross-examiner in the eye. be earnest and have a little emotion if its necessary, for ex. if ur a doctor as a witness, sound professional, but if ur, say, the mother of the deceased, pretend 2 cry or something. getting very loud and angry wont hurt either (and it will also amuse the audience)

if u want, develop ur own personality for a witness, like a southern accent. if ur an attorney, stand up straight, walk around, blah blah. go watch a law movie and watch the actors; that might help.

BE INTERESTING.
