so i model for a few companies and i consider it a job since i make money and its very time consuming, i make around 5-10k a month and im relatively well known (not famous but just in the industry).

anyways would it be weird to put this down in my common app under activities/work?
its not an academic thing and i feel like many people have negative connotations of modeling unfortunately.

any input you have is appreciated! dont want this to negatively affect my app

It can’t hurt you. Shows your colleges that you know how to balance work with school. And 5-10k is some really nice money for a high schooler (?). You should definitely let colleges know about the job and how much time you put in for it.

yeah it is a ton of money (i am a teenager so my parents do control the money)
it depends on how much i can travel/my availability but ill get 1k+ for every shoot

thanks for your input!

anyone else? i just dont want to be labeled as a “barbie” or anything of that sort

why would you not put it down? Being a model takes skills

i agree with you
im just a bit worried that not everyone thinks modeling is a serious job and may just stereotype me as a superficial, barbie-type person, which i am not

I doubt admission counselors would think that.

I think that’s awesome. I don’t know why anybody would hold it against you.

And nice on the income

That’s a great EC to list, I really don’t think you should hide it. As long as your essay isn’t about the struggles of being gorgeous, I don’t see why colleges would judge you on the grounds of superficiality.

thanks for all the help!
