Moderating Online Forum as Extracurricular Activity?

Okay, I know this may sound silly but what would putting that I am a forum moderator (high one at that for this one place) as an Extra Curricular?! I am serious.

I think forum moderating is a worthy activity. How impressive that will be may depend on how impressively well moderated the site is.

Lol thanks for changing topic but well its a game site :D but it gets millions of hits and is pretty huge. Has anyone done it?

I would be a bit hesitant to put it on the application as thats kinda an odd thing to put down and adcoms could have a negative reaction and think you are just wasting a lot of time on the internet.

Out of curiosity what site is it? Gamefaqs, gamespot, ign, neogaf, etc?

if you're a mod at ign i'll kill you

i've been banned there to many times

I was a moderator at some sites that related to the 'focus' I was theming my application toward (academic sites), but I just put that I was involved in those sites.

I'd put it as an EC that's so awesome

Hm? Like you were involved in language website forums? lol

Saying it would be a dead giveaway to like three people I know that know that I am (they are the only ones that know, I mean come on saying you are a forum mod to people? lol) but I will say it is a site for MMORPGs (which has a forum).
For those that don't seem to know what MMORPGs are, wikipedia it or just think of World of Warcraft except much more games lol.

Im a nerd inside :D.

CO mods are cool.

are the forums most angry-"this-game-sux-so-much" haters or games lovers? Because that makes a difference. :P

Yes, languages and linguistics, primarily. I didn't put it as an EC, but it was mentioned on the app somewhere.

Aren't we all....

On a related note, what if one were to own websites that bring in money? Would that count as an EC?

just curious, where would you say that? because I never realized that you were allowed to put so many stuff down that I thought differed other than the traditional stuff like Gpa sat ec's...

Yes definitely, that'd be like starting a business.

Hmm. Rethinking.. Do you mean like blogs with Google ads on them or online shops/Etsy?

Gaia mod, where are you?

Additional info. Some applications have short answer essays where you might be able to mention it too--like Stanford's supplement, which asks you for your favorite sites (among other things).

In general, anything you do with your free time can be listed as an extracurricular activity.

Not necessarily blogs, but just sites that bring in revenue from advertising companies, Google being one of them.

Lol I ain't a Gaia mod but okay thanks, I am pretty sure this site brings TONS of money, they have actual staff (paid staff for technical support, contests, etc.).
