Odd EC

I don't really know where to put this but I'll be applying as a transfer student so I thought I would put it here. I am just wondering - I volunteer at an online fashion forum as a moderator. We have 50,000+ members (our membership is now on an invite only basis) and we have some clout in the fashion world as an inside souce. I have been a moderator on the site for over 2 years and a member for 3 or 4 years. I prob. spend about 20+ hours there a week. Moderating can be anything from editing and watching members to determining how the site will be run. Basically we act at support staff in running the site. Is this worth mentioning? I will be applying for an american studies/government major but I have other fashion related EC's (took evening courses at Central St. Martins and London College of Fashion, worked as a stylist on a local indie movie). I'm just wondering because it's an online forum....

Yes, mention it. If the adcoms don't think it's worth mentioning, they'll simply ignore it. You have nothing to lose.

thanks Fusion. Anyone else have any thoughts?

bump......

bumping again....anyone?

I would recommend put those fashion-related experience in. You should tailor your application to create an impression of your (obvious) passion in fashion. That should help differentiate you from others with similar stats and background.

If the schools you are not applying don't have a fashion-related club, mention in your application/interview that you like to start one!!

um...moderator of an internet message board != EC

thanks dallas, you're right. You've given me good perspective. Citan - sorry I'm really out of it today. Are you saying something along the lines of it's obvious that being a moderator of an internet message board would be an EC?
