What am I supposed to do? --Both because she doesn't see the point in paying for a financial aid application and because we can't afford it.

Call admissions and ask for advice, and see if you can get the fee waived. If you really can’t afford it, I’m feel like you would qualify for the Carolina Covenant, which would let you graduate from college debt free. I don’t think UNC would know unless you filled out the CSS. I’m not sure though…

Also, talk to your high school guidance counselor. Some schools have funds for cases like yours. It never hurts to check.

Having to pay for financial aid forms is so wrong. The Collegeboard must make a killing off the admissions process between SAT registration, sending scores, AP tests and filling out and sending the CSS profile.

Oh, completely forgot that CSS was through the collegeboard. I’d go ahead and contact them too. It couldn’t hurt. Also, that makes it more likely you could get some sort of waiver through the schools.

I figured out a way to cancel out my other schools on CSS, so we only had to pay for UNC so I could do it. Thanks for the help though
