<p>The initial deposit for my school is $500 and is due by May 1. There is no way I could possibly get that money, nor am I receiving much help from my family. I would to have this be the thing that makes me stay home. If I win a scholarship, could I use it for that? Or is there any other resource I could tap?</p>
<p>Did you get a financial aid package? If so, contact the financial aid office and see whether they can help you cover the deposit from pending aid proceeds, or perhaps defer the deposit until the aid is disbursed.</p>
