Money from government for foreign language and international relations major?!

Hello everyone!

I was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to get money from the government for majoring in foreign languages (I'm in both AP Spanish and AP French as a high school senior, and would like to learn another language!) and international relations?

I figured that there's obviously a need for students like this with what is going on in the world today. Any help?

Thank you!

There are many students majoring in international relations. I know of NO government sponsored scholarships for this major or for foreign language study.

Your best bet would be scholarships from the universities to which you are applying. Some schools have departmental scholarships for specific areas of study.

^^^^ Yeah. There are ten million students majoring in international relations. And twenty million students taking Spanish or French.

If, IF, IF there were to be any advantages it might be in Arabic or Chinese.

You do realize that “money from the government” is actually “money from my fellow citizens who actually pay taxes out of the money they have slaved away for hours to earn” right?

There actually used to be a need based grant called the SMART grant that was for students majoring in sciences and also in foreign languages. It required pell eligibility and was $4,000 a year for Junior/Senior. But it, along with the ACG grant, were only around for about 4-5 years before being discontinued (I think the last year was 2011).
