<p>I am going to buy my ticket to MGL to NY soon, but found out that it is $1750 with open end. Is it reasonable? I am just asking because here they tend to say more than the price for their own sakes. </p>
<p>And yes, I also have to wait in Seoul for 15 hours until I finally head to NY!!!</p>
<p>Any input will be appreciated, especially from my fellow Chinese CC'ers since we do live near. Thanks!</p>

<p>Its often cheaper if you put a return date, i just returned home for 6 months and bought a ticket with a return flight 10 days after I got home but didn't actually get on this flight. But it made the flight about $300 cheaper.</p>

<p>Believe it or not, round-trip tickets are often cheaper than "one-way" tickets. It doesn't really make sense, but it works that way...</p>

<p>Okay, this is what I would recommend. Fly Korean Airlines, JAL, or Cathay Pacific. I'd prefer Cathay because their new CX fleet has much more comfortable seats and more movies and games to choose from. I think it's around 1400 USD for a round trip, but I'm not sure.</p>

<p>Often, the difference is even much more than that. I've seen one way tickets cost twice as much as a round trip (with the outgoing legs identical) even though you're only purchasing half the amount of travel. Makes no sense, but with logic like that behind their business models it's hardly a wonder the airlines aren't doing so hot.</p>
<p>it will not always be cheaper to buy round trips.. especially for transit flighta</p>
<p>This is too late, but I thought I'd suggest JAL or ANA. You transit through Tokyo, but they give you a free overnight stay (hotels are 4-5 star quality), free shuttle busses to nice downtown/mall areas, and a free breakfast buffet.</p>
<p>JAL is more popular, because they offer more flights, but ANA is more spacious, has better service/hotels/food, but only offers 2-3 flights a week I believe.</p>
