Mono + 1 month absent + Grades suffering + College apps due = HELP?

So I started my senior year on August 20th, unfortunately I was only there for the first day until I got super sick, went to the doctor and sure enough I have mononucleosis. I've been out ever since and I'm not expected to return until the end of September. Unfortuantely, I am in the most rigorous classes I can possibly take, I'm in all IB classes (SL Physics, AB Calc, HL Psych, Spanish 4, HL English, HL History). I'm trying to keep up as much as I can but my grades are suffering. I'm expecting some pretty crummy grades for 1st 9 weeks and I don't know how much I can pull them up by the end of the semester. So now my question is, what to do about applying for colleges? I want to send in all my applications by November, what should I do about my poor grades? I have a record of high marks and I'm afraid colleges are going to see "oh she decided to slack off for her senior year" and my gpa is going to suffer as well of course. Do I write something in my application about how I was out of school for a month or do I just leave it alone and hope for the best? I'm really worried about this, i'm applying to highly competitive schools and I can't afford this :( please help me

"The Kiss Of Death" now becomes "The Kiss of Bad Grades".

o_O

get your counselor to explain..

and try to do a teeny bit of HW while your sick, so you can at least not go waaaay behind...

i mean i'm doing as much as I can; i'm trying to keep a running jog while everyone else is sprinting but its not so easy. I came in to take a physics test (the make-ups are a ***** supposedly) and I made a 57% and I studied my ass off, but thats not enough, I'm just so worn down and its hard to teach myself the basics of calculus, physics, and everything else (yes i know its what i'll need to be doing in college).. i guess yeah i'll have to talk to my counseler about what I can do.. its just so frustrating to have 3 years of good grades then when it comes to senior year, the most important year, be nearly failing. :(

i guess i spent too much time partying over the summer...blah

You could repeat your senior year.

omgosh no
are you kidding?
that would look even WORSE on college apps

maybe you can drop out of your most rigorous AP classes and take an easier level course so your gpa and grades don't suffer as much?

i'm not in ap, i'm in IB
you don't understand, you don't go through 3 years of pure ***** and countless all-nighters just to drop out of the ib program senior year.
theres no way i'm dropping ib and theres no way i'm repeating my senior year.
my main question is i guess should i tell the colleges that i'm applying to? i mean, i don't want it to seem like i'm making up excuses but what else can i do?

yeah, you should tell them. it isnt really making up excuses, illness is definitely a valid reason.

it's not making up excuses. you have an illness and they will understand. try to do as much as you can.

YOU HAVE MONO. Think about it; will colleges really expect you to be performing at full functionality when you have a disease known for causing extreme fatigue?

The adcoms are not heartless. This was something that could not be helped. Do not let it get to you. Try your best and make sure your guidance counselor makes note of it.
