Montclair State University Audition?

Hey I was just wondering if anyone who has been to a Montclair State Univ BFA Acting audition could explain the process to me. A quick overview of the process would be great. Im mainly concerned about how long it will last. Could someone who has been before give me a time estimate?

Katie, my son is also auditioning for Montclair during Unifieds so I am going answer you as I would answer my son if he asked this question. The website for Montclair is pretty clear, they want two contrasting monologues of not more than 2 minutes each. In addition, there will be a brief, and I think they mean it as they specify a 2-3 minute interview process, following your monologue.

Relax and breathe…

Im just wondering about how long the audition last because I have another audition later that day. So anyone who has auditioned for this school before itd be awesome for your help.

Katie, I think they are pretty short, unlike others who have a window of time. Montclair indicated it was just the monologues (2 2-minute monlogues) and a brief interview. I think as long as you have about an hour or so, you will be fine. I hope so anyway because my S has another one at 2, and Montclair knew his schedule when they scheduled this one.

I have one at 2 the same day as well. Im sure we should have plenty of time to get to the next audition.

from what I heard the Unified audition for Montclair for Acting is 15 minutes. I believe its longer if you audition at the University.

For auditions for schools like Montclair that didn’t request four-hour commitments (like for MT auditions), we allotted twenty minutes for the audition and twenty minutes in between schools. My girl auditioned for Montclair for MT and had two songs and 2 monologues and she was in the room for about 15 minutes if I recall correctly . . . no more than 20 minutes for sure.

One thing that I was concerned about was schools getting off schedule and then that causing a domino effect of lateness, but that wasn’t the case at all. Only one school ran a little behind and they ran just a few minutes late.
