More Match Schools

Looking for matches with these stats:
GPA: 3.75 UW (that works out to be all A's and 2 B's per semester)

Rank: top quintile (school doesn't rank)

Type of school: fairly prestigious but only sends around 2 or 3 to top schools each year with graduating class of about 60

Courseload: Most rigorous with 12 AP's with 7 5's 4 4's and 1 3

Summer: TASS (I'm White), then Columbia Summer

EC's:
Science Olympiad: Regional Medals 10,11
Chinese Club: 10,11
Board Member of a private middle school for disadvantaged girls
Varsity Swimming
Club Swimming - 12 hours weekly

Want to study either ethics or biotechnology with an emphasis in agricultural genetics

I have reaches: Columbia, Brown, Swarthmore, JHU
I have safeties: University of Delaware (instate), Michigan (legacy + significant donor)
What I need are some good matches that aren't more than an 9 hour drive from philly

SAT/ACT scores? Any SAT IIs?

So sorry I forgot them, don't know how that happened, anyway here it is:
720CR
700M
680W

SAT II:
Bio 800
Chem 800
Lit 770

Here are some matches in that you have in the range of SAT scores the schools accept and they are not reaches in the sense that they have the very low acceptance rate of Columbia, Brown ect. Keep in mind though that these are not matches in that you should be able to get accepted. It still means you have a 50% chance of getting accepted I would guess. It is still very hard to get into these really good schools because you are competing with all the other regular decision applicants who also have similar scores.
Emory
Georgetown
John Hopkins
Northwestern
Tufts
You are lucky that your safety list includes Michigan which to most would not be a safety
but given your connection is

thanks so much
does it help that im female

Penn State for biotech?

^ being female is actually a DISadvantage now....

There are statistically more females than males currently attending the majority of colleges, so adcomms are trying to balance it out. Tough luck :(

Since when is Georgia and Southern Methodist University easier to get into then UofI?

That "college match service" is F***** up!

Re: Post #4: You do not have a 50% chance at any of those schools.

Emory 40%
Georgetown 20% RD, 30% EA
Northwestern 10% RD, 25% ED
Tufts 25%
JHU 25%

You should be accepted to Delaware & Michigan. Michigan is a clear safety in your case with or without alumni connections as they accept 50% with lower scores.

Columbia 15% RD, 20% ED
Swarthmore 30%
Brown 15%

Here are the best schools for anything biology related:

UC-Davis
University Of Chicago
University Of Dallas
University Of Delaware
University Of Denver

University Of the Pacific
Wofford College
Xavier University Of Lousiana

Thanks guys, though I will say I don't really trust the college match stuff since it once called Harvard a match for me but University of Delaware a reach??

yeah I don't trust the college match stuff either, all I'm saying is that you should look at the schools on that list I posted above and start from there (obviously Harvard is a reach)

Michigan is almost never a safety school. A match school for sure, but unless you have connections, not really a safety school for out of state.

^^is being a major donor considered a connection?

Case Western? Don't know if it meets the 9 hour rule....

Coldwind indicated that Michigan was a safety for the applicant "with or without alumni connections." I disagreed with that statement.

^^^ Depends on your definition of "major donor." Is it >100k?

Coldwind, if I'm not mistaken, the acceptance rate at Swarthmore was around 13% last year, not 30%.

Coldwind, the % chances you provided have the ring of truth. How did you arrive at them?

If ColdWind was providing individualized admissions chances in post #4, then I must add that Swarthmore's % should probably be around 17%--between Ivies and Georgetown. Especially coming from the NE. Northwestern would be 20-25% RD, higher for ED.
