I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions about more schools to apply to? I am planning to apply to Temple and UPitt for transferring options but kind of wanted a couple more options that I could still apply to. I am a sophomore at GWU with a 3.37 GPA majoring in Psychology and double minoring in French and Film. I was thinking about applying to UMD and if anyone had one more school to apply to I would really appreciate it. Thank you!
What is your financial situation?
It’s hard to answer that without knowing where you want to live, how much you can afford to pay, and what you’re looking for/why you’re leaving GW.
I see that you are in-state for PA. As such U.Pitt and Temple seem like two pretty good choices. After that I think that we might be grasping at straws a bit to suggest anything, particularly without knowing your budget.
To grasp in one direction that you might not have considered, Concordia in Montreal (up the street from McGill) would be another affordable option (along with your in-state options) with good psychology and film programs. Living in Montreal for three years would probably do more for your French than a second minor. Concordia is not ranked quite as high as McGill for psychology, but would be safer in terms of admission and a bit less expensive for an international student.
Most schools for me are cheaper than GW. I pay 46,000 right now even with my merit aid and scholarship. I’m just want more of a traditional college to complete my studies and I am unsure of how much aid I will get in the following year so I was trying to apply to a couple of schools. GW is a very pre-professional school so I was trying to see if I had some options to look at for the next two years as the environment is a little much for me. Even some schools full price out of state are more affordable to me like UMD. I;m just applying to have more options in case GW doesn’t increase my aid as my circumstances have changed. Thank you all for taking the time to reply
“I pay 46,000 right now”
Ugh. Yes, you can pay less with your in-state schools and a lot less in Canada, and can probably find other more affordable options. To me a school would need to be close to perfect to be worth this much. By “perfect” I mean perfect for you, with the understanding that different students will be looking for different things.
