Thank you Kbisus.

Thanks everyone!! That is extremely reassuring to know that your kids feel safe and are enjoying the South campus dorms.

Are any of your kids familiar with the Villanova Band? My daughter is interested in joining but was not sure about the commitment. It sounds pretty laid back.

how would you describe Villanova's engineering school?

from what ive heard the engineering school is great at Villanova. it ranked as the number 10 undergrad engineering school. it also has a new building.

I myself am deciding between Villanova and BC. they are similar in many ways but i feel that the community and school spirit is amazing at villanova. the one thing keeping me from committing there is that i believe that BC has a better academic reputation and the fact that i love boston.

LOL, congrats on a 2yr old grave dig

so it sounds like nova is a great place with a friendly environment, but what concerns me the most is the lack of diversity, especially since I’m asian.

do you think it will matter? and also, do any of you know about the biology program at nova?

ditto, scs339. i’m asian as well and the school where i come from in nyc is extremely diverse. as great as villanova seems, the lack of diversity is a major turn off for me. :(

Nova’s diversity is also a major turn off for me also being that I’m asian. Some other b-schools that I have gotten into have much more diverse student body that I’m leaning towards. I was visiting earlier this year and I saw no Asians, not that there’s anything wrong with that, but you know what I mean.

haha yeah. i actually visited and spoke to people and they said that of course there will be people who are not as open minded as others but there are definitely people who are more accepting of diversity. So I guess it depends on who you meet. The people I stayed with were pretty cool so I’m not as worried.

Wow! I can’t believe it’s been 2 years since I posted here and my D is now going into her junior year in Villanova.

To the most recent posts, my D has more diverse friends in Villanova than she ever did in her high school. She became very close to 6 wonderful girls and boys all from different backgrounds, from a foreign student from India to a Jewish boy to a home-schooled girl.

I can only speak for myself and my D…and I’m sure she would agree with me that the past two years have been the greatest years of her life so far. We would highly recommend taking advantage of the summer retreats before her freshman year and continue to do so in all the other retreats offered throughout the school year. These retreats not only created great friendships for my D but helped her grow to be more compassionate, focused and driven in her career… and in the community.

Good luck to all and welcome to the Villanova family!
