More than Ten Schools on FAFSA

Is it possible to list more than ten schools on the FAFSA? I have ten there now and it won’t let me add aoither.

You have to file a “correction” for the additional. Of course it’s not technically a correction because there was nothing wrong with your first one, but that’s what they call it. If you look on the site, it tells you how to file a “correction.”

Yup. File with the first ten, wit for it to be accepted and processed (2-5 days) then remove the first ten and add the others.

It’s so ridiculous, that process. I wish they would have space for 15. I think that would be reasonable.

20 would be better. Thanks for the reminder. I have to go do this right now.

Yes, I see all that now. if the deadline for Boston College is 2/1 and I add it now, is it considered on tie or is it the actual date it processes…2-3 days from now. And only allowing 10 is ridiculous and calling to a correction is stupid!

I don’t mind having the limit of 10 but they should stop calling the procedure a “Correction”. The wording made us worry that filing a correction would somehow rescind the FAFSAs we’d already sent.

They could fix this misconception easily by adding a button that says “Send Additional” or even just relabel the “Correction” link.

@paparent106 adding it now should count as submitting it on time. It’s when you press the button, (just like the app), not when they process it.

@Otterma I wonder if they feel so few students apply to more than 10 if it’s worth the cost of changing it. It seems on CC like many students do but I think we may be a poor sample.

The limit for the number of colleges used to be seven. It was increased to ten sometime after 2003.

Yes my guess is the total number of students applying to more colleges than 10 is so small it is not worth the cost to make the web alterations. Remember after this year you will only be filing for aid from one college. Now would be an ideal time to trim your list if there are colleges you have intention of attending!

@OHMomof2 and @momofthreeboys - you’re probably right. No doubt this issue is squashed in priority relative to changes with the IRS, legal, and other issues that the FAFSA folk have to deal with every year.
