Please give any feedback, I need to make a decision fast. If I get in ED to NYU, I wouldn’t be able to participate in any other colleges+ this scholarship. I would appreciate any feedback and any college recommendations for RD.
If you get into NYU, will you be able to afford it?
Did you run the NPC, and if so, was it within the realm of possible without a significant (for you and your family) debt load?
If not, convert the ED to RD and give yourself a chance to graduate debt-free.
Class rank & SAT might be a bit low for Moorehead Cain if you were a non-resident. My best guess is that you are much better off keeping your ED app to NYU-Stern if that is really your top choice school. (790 Math SAT indicates that you may be well suited for NYU-Stern finance.)
P.S. Since you are an instate nominee for Morehead Cain, your odds are good.
Do you think I have a shot at UNCCH (regular) instate? Also, I would enter UNCCH as a junior due to my heavy involvement in dual enrollment costing me 24k for my undergrad compared to 320k (NYU 4 years), do you think job placement at NYU will be worth it?
After reviewing the Morehead Cain Scholars page, you should be competitive for the scholarship as an instate applicant. (Seems as though about 42 North Carolina residents receive this award each year & about 38 non-residents. Is this correct to the best of your knowledge ?)
If you withdraw your ED supplement to NYU, state that it is due to being nominated for this very prestigious scholarship & that you would like to remain as an RD applicant to NYU-Stern.
You raise an interesting issue regarding advanced standing at UNC-CH & how this may affect your chances for the Morehead Cain Scholarship. I don’t know the answer.
No, the difference in cost is not worth being full pay at NYU-Stern as the extra $296,000 is more than enough to pay for a fulltime MBA degree to any US university’s MBA program.
Even without consideration of pursuing an MBA, you are better off earning your undergraduate degree from UNC-Chapel Hill as it will save at least one full year & you enjoy resident tuition rates.
The savings could be used immediately after graduation to earn a one year Specialty Masters Degree from, for example, Duke University Fuqua MMS (which limits enrollment to those with minimal post undergraduate work experience).
The cost difference between full pay at NYU-Stern & UNC-CH cannot be justified, in my opinion, even if targeting a finance job on Wall Street such as in Investment Banking.
