Will I get accepted?

Hello everyone! I am really confused as to whether I should even try for NYU. I would love your input and opinions. Any recommendations/feedback helps!

I am applying ED1 to NYU. I’m a little conflicted between Stern or CAS just because I really want to go to NYU and I do not want to lower my chances.
CAS: Econ major and a minor in politics
STERN: Economics or Accounting (more towards econ)
Race: Asian
Location: Maryland
GPA: 3.77 UW, 4.2 W
Class rank: (I’m not sure but I know I’m in the top 10%)
School: rural, public school

Scores/Classes:
SAT: I was not planning to submit my SAT because it is optional this year (I’m trying to take it in a different state since all the test centers are closed around me though)
No SAT subject tests but I have 7 AP scores and I have passed all of them.

Extracurriculars:
-around 150 hours of service
-high volunteer position in the American Red Cross
-president/vp of 4 clubs (dealing with diversity, mental health, honor society…etc.)
-in 8 clubs total
-varsity athlete (#1 girl player in school for 3 years)
-we the people

I know I will have really good recommendations and I plan to submit 3. Also, I am quite positive that my essay is good.

If anyone can give me advise on how to strengthen my application or anything at all, I would really appreciate it

When you say you “passed” all your APs, how well? NYU only accepts 4s and 5s for credit, so that gives you an indication of how it views AP scores. Your GPA is kind of average for Stern/CAS so while it keeps you in the running, it doesn’t really make you stand out either. (Not trying to be a downer, just giving an honest assessment). If you can sit a SAT and do well it may help your application. Bear in mind the average admitted student SAT for the class of 2024 was 1500.

As for strategically trying to pick one school over the other, you’re talking about two schools with single digit acceptance rates - stern is a bit harder to get into, but not hugely so. If you are much more passionate and interested in one of them, that will probably come through in your essay. So in your case I would choose the school that most aligns with your interests to apply to. You will certainly get your best chance at ED for either of them.

As for “should you even try” - absolutely, if you want to go that badly! The one caveat, and the one thing you haven’t mentioned, is finances. NYU’s aid is almost entirely need-based, and they do not meet full need, so be careful to run the NPC and see if it is affordable.
