Morrill Scholars Applicants Class of 2024

My DD20 applied to Morrill and did not originally select another honors program. She received an email asking her to choose one. She has done so. Does this likely mean she is not still under consideration for Morrill? There was not an option to say “Morrill is my top choice”. Are some students offered participation in Morrill and another program? We took it as an “or” not an “and” on the original application.

It is an “and.” My daughter is a Morrill Scholar and International Affairs Scholar (she chose IA Scholar route instead of Honors because of dorm selection).

Thank you @jjulesjenks !

Anyone know if Morrill Scholarships will be released today?

My daughter just received an email - she was awarded the Prominence Scholarship. Unbelievable!!! She was accepted to tOSU on Nov. 15th.

@collegehope100 Congratulations to your daughter. Very competitive scholarship!

@jjulesjenks Thank you! I keep reading over the email to make sure it’s real.

my son got accepted to OSU on Nov 15, and also was awarded Maximum Scholarship on Dec 10th (3K per Year), but still did not hear about Morille yet, even though Maximus is harder to get since you have to be in the top 3% of your class. I was hoping he will get in the second wave last Friday Dec 20th.

For those of you who got accepted. CONGRATULATIONS!

Do you know if your son / daughter had to hit the accept button for admittance and pay the 100 dollar down payment, before they were considered for any of the scholarships? Or is it just based on them being admitted to OSU? Thank you in advance for the responses.

You do not need to hit the accept button and pay the fee to be considered for scholarships.

You should set up your BuckeyeMail email account (again, you do not need to accept admission or pay the fee to do this step) because “From now on, important and time-sensitive business communications from Ohio State – like your financial aid offer and housing contract – will be sent to your BuckeyeMail account. Set up BuckeyeMail even if you haven’t decided on Ohio State.”

http://undergrad.osu.edu/apply/freshmen-columbus/after-you-are-admitted

Only hit accept and pay the fee after you have decided. “Pay this $100 nonrefundable fee as soon as you decide on Ohio State, and no later than May 1.”

Thank you for the timely information…

One additional question. Were the Morrill scholarship announcements sent to your son / daughters personal email account or the BuckeyeMail account? Thanks

@Hometowndad
The Morrill scholarship notification was sent to the personal email address my daughter used on her application (gmail account), not buckeymail account.

My daughter is a Morrill scholar and is waiting to hear about acceptance into the Scholars program. Some of the students at her high school heard about Scholars admission on Friday. She didn’t hear anything yet, but these are health sciences scholars and that’s not the program she applied for. Does anyone know what percentage of Morrill scholars get accepted into the Scholars program? Should she be worried that she didn’t get in?

My daughter heard about Media, Marketing & Comm scholars on Friday. I wouldn’t worry, though. I think I read that the majority of Morrill scholars are a part of one of the honors or scholars groups. Which scholars program did your D rank #1?

Biological sciences. Congrats to your daughter! I looked it up and learned that 80% of Morrill Scholars are also in the Scholars program so we’ll keep fingers crossed. She really hopes to be part of this…

Has anyone received morrill since 12/20?

My son received Prominence on 1/10 and was also accepted for Engineering scholars on the same day.

Did anyone receive a generic welcome letter from the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI)? I have a feeling that this is not a good sign as far as being considered for the scholarship. Thoughts?
