@camcam2022 If you receive the Distinction level of the scholarship, you are not required to live in the MSP Learning Community. You apply to live in the learning community after you fill out your housing application. If you are accepted into Mount Scholars, you will be required to live with Mount Scholars unless you apply to the Morrill LC too and then you have to make a choice. So if you’re in a Scholars program outside of MSP, you will be required to live with that Scholars program. If you apply to both Scholars and the Morrill LC you will have to choose between the two.
@jaysoneric8 just completed the scholars selection email and Morrill LC was not a choice.
@camcam2022 Applying to a Learning Community comes after you complete your housing application. You complete your housing application once you pay your acceptance fee and wait for them to release them. You have a few months before they do that. There are many learning communities to choose from. When housing applications come around, you should receive another email highlighting the different learning communities.
@jaysoneric8 so the scholars program we completed which are specific dorms differs from Learning Commumities?
@camcam2022 Exactly. Learning Communities and specific dorms for Scholars programs are two different living options.
@jaysoneric8 This doesn’t have to do with MSP, but how does laundry work? Can you use your buckID to pay?
@jaysoneric8 do all Morrill Scholar recipients that wish to live in the MSP LC get in?
@oreo32 When you go into the laundry room, you’ load your clothes and detergent and all that into a washer/dryer. Then you’ll go to the machine on the side where you choose the number of that washer or dryer and you swipe your buckID. Payment is through buckID cash, which is reloadable.
@camcam2022 There is only room for about 40 first-year and about 40-second-year students. So I wouldn’t say ALL MSP members that wish to live in the LC get in, but if your application is what they’re looking for and you show that you want to be involved and are interested in the values of the LC, you should get in.
When is this year’s distinction weekend?
@itsgettingreal17 Feb 2-3
Do they notify you if you were rejected? I didn’t receive anything yet so I’m assuming a rejection
@TGBuckeye call ODI and ask
For those who are still waiting on a decision all hope is not lost! I contacted ODI and they informed me that every scholarship tier will continue to be awarded through the END of February. Happy Friday
@gsumskin That’s great! A friend of mine received Excellence for Morrill around 9:30 AM today.
Are most of the decisions released on Friday? That is the trend I have seen on here and twitter but I have seen some on Thursday and other days. Sorry I am over analyzing this because of stress.
Has anyone heard back yet? I recently got into UMD and I am waiting to see if I get the scholarship because OSU and UMD are my top choices.
I got into both as well. No money yet from UMD but received the Prominence Award from OSU and just interviewed for the Distinction Award this past weekend. OSU is definitely my top choice beteeen the two. FYI I hear UMD doesn’t award heavily. Good luck.
I just found this website & all your comments are so helpful. My daughter applied for the Morris scholarship and we have heard nothing as of this day. She was an EA. We got our acceptance the week before Christmas. Does this mean our chances of getting anything are pretty slim?
I think awards continue until March. Chances are getting slim though.
