@osu161718, were you interviewed for distinction? If so, what things did you discuss and what questions were asked? Also, when were you notified about your scholarship? Much appreciated!
for mombean- There are no requirements or obligations other than maintaining a 3.0 GPA by the end of your sophomore year. So no mandatory meetings or service or anything like that. They do encourage you to be active in the ODI and events they hold, however none are mandatory and you are not penalized in any way for not becoming involved, so if you choose not to, no time will be taken up at all.
and for salmonsuit20- I unfortunately was not invited for a distinction interview, I received the Prominence scholarship.
I also noticed in a previous post someone said Morrill decisions don’t come out until march or april. This is only true for Distinction where you go through the interview process. The others start much earlier, I found out about my Prominence award in mid December, around the 13th .
for osu161718 - Thanks for the information! All the waiting, and decisions are a bit overwhelming, so I appreciate people who have already gone through this and who spend their time to help the rest of us. Thank you!
@osu161718 Yes, thank you for clarifying! I’m eager to see how everything goes this year!
I just received an email saying I won the Prominence scholarship! So happy right now, I could cry!!!
@lbd1992 - Congrats
@lbd1992 That’s amazing, congratulations!!! When did you apply?
So they are giving scholarships out early! Something made me think so, but wasn’t sure. Good luck to everyone waiting!
@salmonsuit20 Thanks! I applied around the end of October I think.
@ibd1992 Congrats! Would you mind sharing your stats (in-state/OOS, GPA, ACT)
Anyone else find out about morrill?
@klb222 Sure! I am OOS from Florida, I have an 3.85 UW/4.87 W GPA and I have a 30 ACT composite and a 1340 New SAT
@klb222 What did you write about if you don’t mind my asking
@artsyg I wrote about my family backgrounds and how they encourage me to the best person I can be and to always help people reach their potential as well. I also talked about my volunteer experiences at a local homeless shelter and the peer mentoring program at my school, as well as the magnet program I am involved with in school that deals with international studies.
Congrats @lbd1992! That’s a wonderful accomplishment.
@ibd1992 I meant to reply back to ibd1992, thanks for your response on your essay and congratulations on winning the Morrill!
I did notice on Twitter that others were tweeting about receiving their notification emails for the scholarship around the same day as ibd1992 (congrats by the way!). I wonder if this means what I think it means, no email, no scholarship
I doubt they notified everyone already.
@OhioMom6 I was on the phone with a representative from OSU last night. She didn’t work in the ODI, but she did say that they would continue to notify scholarship winners in the coming weeks. All hope is not lost!
