Morris Hall?

hi! i will be an incoming freshman at uga this fall and i just found out that i got morris hall. im getting a lot of mixed feedback about this dorm and i was wondering what everyone else thought of it and what the pros and cons to it are. also my roommate and i considering appealing for a different room and most appeals lead to brumby. what are the pros and cons of brumby, and if you were in my situation, which hall would you go with? thanks!

A friend of my daughter lived in Morris as a freshman and liked it better much. She said the pros were larger closets, sink in room and b/c it is a smaller dorm, she made a lot of friends and established closer relationships. Downside is that it is farther away from the dining halls than most dorms (like a 10 minute walk) - but this helped her not put on the freshman fifteen; and is not a party dorm (if that is what you are in to).

My roommate and I got assigned there too!
I heard it isn’t bad, although it’s not the most “popular” dorm. It has bigger rooms and closets, is super close to downtown, and is a tight-knit community.
Personally, I would rather stay in it then Brumby. But yet I couldn’t live with that many females…

Hey guys! I got assigned there too! I think it will be a great dorm…We won’t put on the dreaded freshman 15 as easily as most others, we are very close to downtown (for partiers and those who love Little Italy as much as I go), we have large rooms with closets and sinks, we have boys in our dorm (I definitely couldn’t live with all girls), we are right on North Campus, and it can be a decent place to study when need be (unlike the high rises). Regardless of where we live, whatever we are specifically looking for can be easily found somewhere else on campus :)

Morris hall is great if most of your classes will be on north campus (that’s true for most social science majors); however, if you are a hard science (bio, chem, whatever) major most classes will be on south campus very far away from Morris. I have also heard that Morris is far from bus stops. Being away from the dining hall may be good for your waistline but not so much your social life. That said, unless you are looking for the true freshman experience, Morris is better than brumby for sure.

hey guys! i lived in morris hall last year, so here are some pros/cons:
pros: big rooms/ sinks / big closets! close to downtown (literally a few steps away) close to main library and MLC (which is great if you have classes there!

cons: small dorm (yes that will be a plus for some, but i didnt like it bc since theres a limited amount of people, it sucks if you dont get along with them) no elevators which SUCKS on move in day…first 2 floors are guys, top 2 floors are girls. (i lived on 3rd floor) so it wasnt that bad…the stairs start on 2nd floor. yes it might be a 10 min. walk from boltan dining hall BUT remember its on a hill!!! and it is super awkward walking down that hill…bc morris is the ONLY dorm that far out. the closest bus stop is infront of english classes…so getting buses is not an issue. the main issue is that its SO FAR AWAY from other freshman dorms… so it doesnt let you have the best freshman experience…at night if you stay late at ur friends dorm in creswell or any other dorms…its super dark/scary walking back. all in all…i would definitely say dont stay at morris. i should have changed but it was a late and i didnt want to end up moving everything once i had settled down…
creswell offers the best freshman experience. if not than brumby or russell. but if your looking for a quite non-social place…than look at the hill community dorms (they all have sinks). trust me—dont make the mistake.
