MOSAIC Weekend

no, last year my friend didnt get invited to MOSAIC and not only did she get in RD but also got the chancellor's scholarship.

Hello All,

Congratulations to everyone on your admission to Vanderbilt and invitation to MOSAIC. For those who did not receive invites, YOU ARE STILL BEING CONSIDERED FOR ADMISSIONS AND SCHOLARSHIPS.

Here are the specifics on Cost:

*We reimburse $100 maximum for your trip to MOSAIC with the following stipulations:
-If you are in Atlanta or Memphis you must either ride the chartered buses or pay for your own travel expenses.
-If you are within 2 hours of Nashville, we do not reimburse for mileage.
-We pay only for mileage (between 45-48 cents per mile). Hotel expenses, gas, spending money and meals are not reimbursed.

We want to work with any and all invited students to help you get to MOSAIC. If you have any questions or concerns about MOSAIC expenses, please contact our office.

ON PARENTS:

Parents are welcome to attend a financial aid session held on Saturday morning the weekend of MOSAIC. Other than that, this event is specifically for admitted and invited prospective students.

ON OTHER SCHOLARSHIPS:

Invitation to MOSAIC is not related to Chancellor's or Honor's Scholarships from Vanderbilt. Those scholarships are awarded to deserving students regardless of whether they are invited or choose to attend MOSAIC.

ON BASKETBALL:

Vandy just beat Kentucky for the fourth straight time. The game was decided in the last minute. We now stand alone in second place in the SEC East.

Go 'Dores!

Thank you for the clarification. I was wondering, do families who live more than two hours away from Nashville automatically qualify for reimbursement?

I think I am going, but I am not sure.

Thanks for clarification

I've decided to go to the MOSAIC weekend. What are you guys wearing to the banquet dinner? I just got an email today w/ a list of items to bring and they said "business casual outfit." Does that include dresses? I'm always confused on how to dress for formal occasions. Any advices?

Also, when they said to bring sleeping bags b/c no cots are provided, does that imply we'll be sleeping on the floor T_T?

Yes, and your host might not even have carpeting where he or she lives (Highland Quad, for example), so prepare for that possibility.

I decided to go and turned in all the forms, but i never got the confirmation packet nor an email with list of things to bring...can anyon post that for me?? :(

I'm going =] I can't wait to meet everyone! And to top it off, I'm turning 18 on the 16th. It's going to be so much fun!

when are you guys arriving? i'll be there around 11-12.

im going for my first two classes of the day so ill probably get there at around 12:30. is that too late?

i don't think so. they said the latest to arrive is at 1, right? i have an interview before the MOSAIC program, so i can't get there before 11:30.

did any of you guys get financial aid information with your mosaic invitation?

nahh i didn't get any financial aid info

and i think i'm arriving around 11 too

no financial info. i wonder when we'll hear back about the Chancellor's scholarship.

so does this just mean if youre diverse youre in vandy?

hah...if that's true, then would Vandy's demography be what it is now? (i'm not criticizing Vandy's current situation, just pointing out obviously diversity isn't the only thing Vandy looks at D:<)

If I am a URM and I was not invited to mosaic weekend, does that mean that I was rejected?
