What classes have you taken that you felt were the most beneficial for your education, development, training, etc.? How did the course content shape you? Was it a teacher in particular?

When it comes to legitimate practical skills, Computer Science I and II (I'm taking AP Comp Sci next year as a senior) has probably taught me more job skills than any class I've taken in my 11 years of schooling.

For development, English 10 Honors gave me a great appreciation for literature, aided my analytical skills, and really helped bring out a deeper and more pensive side of me. My teacher was phenomenal and she greatly influenced me.

Well, my AP World history class was memorable in that it was my first AP class, as well as everyone else’s, and we had quite the class, with many funny memories. I didn’t really enjoy the content all that much, but I really liked the kids and teacher.

I’m really enjoying APUSH and AP Lang right now, and they’re giving me both some funny memories as well as experience in really advanced writing, because they’re definitely no joke at my school. The teachers are also the kind that I’ll remember for a while.

And finally, my journalism class has taught me some “street smart” stuff and has been god for me because the kids in there aren’t like the kids I normally have classes with.

AP Environmental Science changed the way I live my life - I tend to eat much more organically than I used to, I try to recycle much more, reuse, etc. I’ve become a lot more aware of the world around me.

This will sound crazy, but typing class (now know as keyboarding) was the H.S. class that has been the most beneficial to me. My fast typing skills, gave me the opportunity to get good paying, temporary jobs all through college and has been extremely beneficial to me through my entire adult career, (which is not an admin job).

In terms of preparing me for further academics, college, etc. - it was the classes that were the most challenging (and frustrating) that I stuck with anyway. I resented my IB English teacher, but I was over-prepared for most of the writing I’ve had to do in college.
Also the classes that helped me figure out what I wanted to do in the future. I still use things I learned in IB Psychology.

AP Calculus - helped me a lot as a student. I struggled a LOT but put a lot of effort in and realized that I’m not quite as pathetic as I had always thought. It helped with my confidence levels when I succeeded in there.

Biotech Engineering - I’ve learned so much about life! We learn the coolest stuff in there - both related to biotech and not. It’s helped me realize how awesome it is just to learn stuff.

AP Language - It’s helped with my argumentative skills for sure. I can actually debate in an intelligent manner rather than just calling the opponent an idiot. Civil arguments really go a long way, I’ve found out.
