Honestly, it’s pretty difficult to say. If you could fit what you’re trying to ship in a USPS Priority Mail box, that would probably be cheapest, especially if there’s any weight to it.

If not, it’s really tough to say. They’ll probably be close in price to each other.

My advice though is to purchase insurance if you’re shipping anything important.

If you are living on campus all mail/deliveries go to the UPS store (in the Union) on campus. Fed-ex, UPS, USPS, etc. all deliver to the UPS store and the student picks up all package at that location. The line to pick up packages will be long at the beginning of the year and you will have to carry the box back to your dorm, which may or may not be a hike.

I’ve typically found UPS to be the most cost effective for shipping anything size-able. USPS is great for small packages. Also, I don’t go to the UPS Stores. These cost significantly more than going directly to UPS.

We’re in Connecticut and I called UPS about using those 20gallon totes you buy in Target as a shipping container. They said it would be fine so long as I knew that the tote became my “box” and they did not guarantee the condition of the box, just the condition of the contents. Depending on the weight it was $25-45 for a tote using their standard 3day delivery.

I’ll likely be heading there tomorrow…

just shipped two good size cartons via UPS today…less than $30 each, and it still beats driving it up…Not looking forward to the moving in ‘zoo’ next Wed! Cawthorn here she comes!!!

Try FedEx Ground for heavier/bigger boxes, I’ve found them very reasonable in comparison to the others when I’ve had to ship things for Ebay.

@badblonde - I’ll be in that same zooish line at Cawthon next Wed! Additionally, I’ll be one of those maniacs at Target/Wal-Mart the night before buying most of the things he needs. The items we shipped were personal items. Taking his clothes on the flight down as checked bags and have one heck of a shopping list for once we get there on Tuesday! UGG…

This is out third off to college but the other two were within driving distance. This one is going to be interesting.

I did most of her ‘shopping’ (this is my 2nd off to school) at B,B & Beyond here (it will be ready for her at the one in Tallahassee, and the rest online at Walmart.com - free shipping- which is already at school - Of course the UPS store on campus will be the same circus that Bed, Bath etc. will be, but I don’t have to do shopping up there…these options weren’t available when my first went off - I think they are brilliant!
