I'm automatic for UT (assuming my rank doesn't drop drastically next year), so getting into the university itself isn't an issue. What I'm worried about is not getting into either of my top two choices of majors. Right now I'm leaning towards either Biomedical Engineering (which I'm sure is crazy hard to get into) and Neuroscience. Does anyone know which majors are competitive and which are relatively easier to get into?

Hardest: Anything in Engineer and Business.
Easiest: COLA undecided and Undergraduate Studies.

So I would be safe to put BME as my first choice and Neuroscience as my second?

It would be safer to put COLA undecided or UGS as your second.

Well I’m automatic so if I don’t get my top two choices, I’m still in but I would have to go undeclared. I know BME is really competitive, but is Neuroscience more reasonable? And does anyone know if putting something as your second choice reduce your chances of getting that major?

CNS is pretty easy to get into so if you don’t get engineering you’ll definitely get Neuroscience. As a hopeful transfer into Neuro, I know for sure it’s not a competitive major. No it does not reduce your chances, if you are rejected from engineering your app gets sent to CNS and they look at it like they would look at anyone else.

Since you are automatic you have nothing to lose so therefore apply for whatever major you want to

Okay, thanks for the info guys! :)

Petroleum Engineering for sure! Though I may be biased…

CNS and COLA are not easy to get into. I was accepted during the last admissions cycle and saw many kids in the top 10% be flat out rejected from both schools. The only safe bet is UGS.
