Most Likely To Suceed Award?

What about "Best Dressed" Is this worth putting down because I have style?

ummm, personally I wouldn't put that down. It doesn't seem to hold the same kind of respect that most likely to succeed or most smartest person holds. I don't know, I'm the one who asked the question and started this post, so I guess I don't really have much of an answer, yeah, don't listen to me, wait for someone else to answer.

That's a tough one. While "best dressed" does show that you've accorded respect and recognition, I think that it would rub the adcoms the wrong way. I suppose it would make you seem a little dignified... but idk... it's risky. My superlative is different from that of most of the ones that have been mentioned on this thread. While everyone esle was talking about "Most Likely To Succeed" and "Smarter than Einstein" (as we call it in my school), I'm proud of my superlative: "Most Likely To Win An Oscar." Well, idk, it just seems that like the other two, it shows respect and even passion. "Best Dressed." I would think twice about that one. Good luck!

I would put it down (both ...to succeed and Best Dressed) unless it takes space away from a more prestigious award. I put down that I won a watermelon-seed-spitting contest on several of my applications. It sort of tied into my essay but only very abstractly. Give it a shot. And on another note, calm down d3!ty. If superlatives are so meaningless to you, why are you so bitter?

Amen!

LOL, seriously! Don't be so cynical about them (d3!ty)! Yeah, I know it seems like some people seriously don't deserve them... or win them b/c of popularity and whatnot - but so what? It's not the end of the world. I know that winning my superlative was a big honor and I'm very proud to put mine on my applications. d3!ty did you perhaps get one of those "negative superlatives" (or diminutives, as I call them), "Most Likely to be late for Graduation"? Probably not... so lighten up! Congrats to everyone who got superlatives! And I know I shouldn't have to do this, but I apologize on behalf of the superlative-bashers on this thread. Be proud everyone; proud and accepting!

what about prom queen?

would NHS be an award?

also what other things qualify, beause I dont seem to have many except these two.

I do allude to it however in my essay, so it might be a little overwhelming?

I was voted "Biggest Perfectionist"... haha, oh man. I was runner up for "Bring Home to Mom"... personally I would have rather won the second one, I think its cute. Biggest perfectionist is just...i dunno... its just not how i wanted my classmates to think of me, even though its true, lol!

Lulubelle, if those are pretty much your main awards - DEFINITELY list them. It can't hurt. You might stand out in the applicant pool. I'm not sure where you're applying - but try to think: How many prom queens would apply to the school(s) you're considering? I'm not sure what NHS is. National Honor Society? Forgive me if I'm way off. But about alluding to your award in your essay - if you can make a good case for it, I'd say go for it. Try using it to show them who you are, or what makes you unique. Don't overwhelm. I suggest having your teachers and guidance counselor(s) read it. I'm sure they'll let you know whether or not you've gone overboard. Good luck to you!

prom/homecoming king/queen are a good idea to put down, my friend from UCLA put down that he was prom king and he got into all the colleges he applied to. Of course it wasn't just that that got him in, but I'm sure it helped him.

put it down, it lets the college know that you are recognized as a hard worker by your peers. it would add well into a image you might be trying to create.

is something like character award even considered an award...as in something u can put down on college apps???

If YOU consider it an HONOR, then it most certainly can go in the awards/HONORS category. I'm not sure if the application you're using designates it that way. If it does, then go for it! It can't hurt - especially if you happen to be short on awards/honors.

Thanks, I will definitly list prom queen. What other kinds of awards would fit. I don't think there are many that my school gives away besides attendence awards and honor roll. Is this the sections I should write down my sports awards like MVP or other things? Im so scared that there are not enough awards that my section will look really blank....

also, yes NHS is national honors society. For some reason I thought that being inducted to it is an honor? let me know if I am wrong.....

Definitely include MVP awards. Anything that you felt was an honor or that truly distinguishes you in your school and community is worth putting down. In your case, I'd say put just about everything down. You don't want to decrease the number of awards/honors at the end by being so unsure about them. I'm sure that, UNLESS it was a superlative like, "Most Likely to be Late for Graduation" that you should definitely include it. Anything positive, anything distinctive, unique, cool... put it down! Good luck!

-Jon :) :D

I am looking at the Common App right now and they only ask for scholastic awards, and "other information" where would i put prom queen?

Hmmm... I guess in additional information. Now that I remember, I included some of this info (non-academic awards/honors) on the Harvard supplement. You can also submit a r
