Most Number of AP Exams Taken in a Year

Hello, my name is Pete. I have been a lurker since December, and I must commend many of you all on your diligence and your work ethic. Everytime I see the chance me threads on these boards, I always feel rather ashamed for my slacker attitude.

Well, I noticed the threads on self studying AP examinations back in December, and I thought to myself "Hey, I want to get out of college classes, and I hate actually being in class. I am a smart kid albeit a lazy one. I can probably study for these classes on my own."

Many of these students on here speak lightly of cramming for AP exams in one night or week, and I thought I could do the same. Needless to say, my ego got in the way, and I waited till late April to start studying for European History, Microeconomics, and Psychology in addition to the three AP classes I took at school.

Let's just say that I crashed. I have a tendency of rationalizing my problems away to not affect my supreme ego, but I will not do this here. What occurred was that I overestimated my abilities, put too much work on myself at once, underestimated the ap material, distracted myself with fruitless endeavors (i.e. girls and extracurriculars) and finally did not appreciate the amount of fortitude that is required to successfully take these exams.

tl;dr I screwed up. I overestimated my diligence, took to many ap exams, got distracted and did not put enough effort to succeed on these examinations.

Nonetheless, I do not give up easily, and if anyone watches "How I Met Your Mother," I am essentially the embodiment of Barney (without the suit, sadly.) Thus, I did not take this failure personally but as a challenge, and I must say "Challenge Accepted!"

Leading to my central purpose of posting, I must ask what is the most amount of exams one has gotten a 5 on in year. I have a desire to one-up that number. ;)

tl;dr What is the most amount of exams anyone on this board has taken. An arrogant young boy from Georgia wants to exceed that because he wants to fulfill many of his core requirements for electrical engineering at GaTech, so that he can take a gap year to possibly work at a startup. Sadly, he needs external motivation to push through his ADD tendencies.

I took 11 this year god did I over do it .

I took 9 last year and got straight 5s. I took(/will take) 10 this year, and I expect 5s on all of those(according to the released curves)

Last year, someone took 18 exams in 1 year, but I think he got a few 2s, 3s, and 4s…

Are you serious…

^Are you talking to the OP or me?

I’ve taken 6 so far and I will have taken 12 others when I finish my late test. 18 total. I feel like they all went fairly well. I don’t think I got straight fives like the previous poster but decent.

As someone from Oklahoma that DOESN’T attend a magnet school, my resources are fairly limited, but:

I took 3 as a sophomore and scored 5s on all of them (Euro, Music Theory, Biology).
I took 3 this year as a junior. I’m expecting 4+ on all of them (Chem, English Lang, USH).
I’m taking 7 next year… so, if I stop posting, that means I’ve died :p

What 19 tests did you take, garfield?

Correction sorry, 9 that you took 10 that you will take.

I actually took 21:
10th Grade: Chem, Calc BC
11th: USH, Euro, Bio, Phys B, Eng Lang, World, Human Geo, both Phys C’s(late)
12th: Env Sci, Psych, CS, Eng Lit, US Gov, French, Stats, Macro, Micro, Comp Gov(late)

All I can say is wow. People were shocked at how many I took.
May ask what are some strategies you employ for learning this material, time management.
In addition, at the time of self studying would you have liked some kind of program (i.e. p90x-esque) to guide you through self studying the material or learning it.

I try not to procrastinate…whenever I have free time, I read the prep book(starting in summer and then on from there). Near May, I start doing practise tests and finding cram packets online.

Uh, I think I was able to work fine…structure is necessary, but, at least for APs, I was able to provide that on my own.

garfieldliker/J28H11/Benhhhamin : which of the APs are self-learned?

Thank you garfield liker. I appreciate the advice.
May ask how you prepared for the language exam?

I selfed Euro, Physics C(sort of, I had a Physics B class and had taken BC the year before), World, Human Geo, Psych, CS(sort of, our school made a CS club that prepared us for the test), US Gov(sort of, I had an Honors class in this, but we only went over the War for Independence/AoC/Constitution and Congress, so I had to self study the rest), Micro, Comp Gov

Pete, do you mean English Language or French language?

I took 8 this year and people were like freaking out haha.

Both but especially french

I had classes for both, and we did plenty of practise, so I was well prepared for both exams. I didn’t really study outside of class, except to review French grammar and to speak French to some of my friends.

I had to self learn biology , art history , both physics C (because I didn’t have a teacher and I was the only one in it so I was put in the B class), and half of us history. And for the rest psychology, govt, macro , micro , calculus AB I caught on quick so I really didn’t do anything but a last minute review the previous night before the test .
I probably failed English language tho I never could write a good essay

If I go through with my plan (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/ap-tests-preparation/1342061-big-self-study-initiative-multiple-aps.html</a>), then I’ll be taking 8 next year.

garfieldliker, what resource did u use for AP Physics C?..
