What is it? Julliard! I always thought it was Harvard, Yale etc.. I know this is a school of the arts, but still only like 7% acceptance.

the acceptance rate of a school is not the same as its selectivity. however, julliard is indeed extremely selective.

Isn't West Point like 5%? And some of the other academies too?

There's some music academy way more selective than Julliard...I forgot its name but basically all students there form a band and they only accept based on openings...a few a year...like if a tuba student graduates then they'll take 1 tuba applicant.

curtis is more selective than julliard

West Point Academy had an acceptance rate of 13% in 2005 (13,000 candidates applied and West Point accepted only 1,650).

Curtis Institute of Music
No one knows about it except people who do music. It has a acceptance rate of 5%! I think only like 50 people get accepted but because everyone is AMAZING there, the admission is free. Of course food room etc isn't but it is better than Julliard. West Point is also up there but I think Curtis is more selective... People who get into this school are the ones that practices there instruments for 6 hours a day for their lives and even then some don't make it.

Service academy acceptance rates are screwy. Those 13,000 that "apply" are just the ones that fill out that request more information thing on the website and automatically get in the system. From there they get the pre-lim application and from there people get narrowed down to actually get the application then appointed. The actual numbers are found on the main site. Still it's pretty tough considering they denied me the first time for an application.

We should take into account the competitiveness of the applicant pool as well as the number of people applying.

I thought it was Deep Springs.

Deep Springs = ~9%
Julliard = ~8%

the lowest acceptance rate is the U.S. Coast Guard Academy with ~6 %.
we got it in a package of don't worry you'll get into to college stuff from our counselors this year

^
Your school is so much more organized/helpful than mine was.

Ah, well. I identified the second most selective. :p

Curtis is definitely amazing. I know someone who attends Curtis.

There is probably some mystical karate academy high above the clouds in Nepal or somewhere that accepts one pupil a decade.

Yeah, I think it is Curtis.

1st 5:
Curtis Institute of Music 6%
Juillard School 8%
Yale University 10%
United States Naval Academy 10%
Harvard University 11%

geez. RSI has like a 5 % acceptance rate. wow.

wow, with numbers like those, I think most people need not even bother applying.

IIT: 1% acceptance rate.
300,000 applicants.
Less than 3000 selected.
