I’m just curious to see what type of motivation derives from Air Force Academy aspiring people around the country and for some around the world. What motivates YOU? What burns the fire in you to work for this goal?

That is a tough question, I would say my motivation started with the desire to do something different after high school and with my life. I couldn't see myself as a scientist doing research at some university for the rest of my life. I also would say that what drew me to the academy had a lot to do with the overall atmosphere there and attitude that the cadets had when I went to summer seminar.

I concurr that it is a tough question. I beleive that my desire to attend the academy come form different reasons, not just one. The challenge drew me to the academy. I always had this thing for being the best. I know now that I am not the best nor will never be, I will always have someone surpass me in one thing or another. The challenge is what drew me to the academy the most.

Self improvement was my primary reason, to become a strong, moral leader in the best Air Force. Also, I want to be a part of something bigger than myself; to serve a nation who's ideals I really believe in.

I didnt get in yet and even if I get rejected I am going to apply again unless somethign like a new AFA Extreme comes out -_-;; but the main reason I chose the AFA was because it was just a necessary step for my career goal. Pretty much thats about it actually.... but overtime as I did research and began talking to other people like AirForce16 and Roleo, I just fell in love with the school and what it stood for.

^^

Being here has strengthened my reasons. The challenge (personally), and the bigger picture (team). Working for the most amazing people around is rewarding in so many ways.

the educational opportunities, the fact that i will be joining something bigger than myself, the experiences ahead of me, the friends i have already made and will soon make, the physical and mental challenges, the support from back home and much much more

whew

I wish I had that. Support from family members. The greatest support I ever reiceived was here on this forum. And a couple cadets that I know personally. Other than that, my parents think I'm crazy for joining the military. They think its all "carga rifle" or rifle carriers. I can't say I blame them, its all they see on the news. My half brother is in the AF enlisted. He showed me around and I got enfatuated with the officers and the lifestyle. I guess thats a good thing though, that my parents aren't as involved. That way I can show the admissions staff that this is what I want for myself and no one else.

Ah, Letterman. What a great top 10 list, lol.

The challenge, idealism, the people, flying, etc.
