Motorcycle anyone?

I'm comming into my 3rd year here and I'm still using public transportation to get where I need to go. And honestly, it's becomeing a real PITA. A car (even a cheap one) is probably too much with gas, tune ups, parking, ect.

Anyone with a bike wanna share whats it like? How often do you use it? What about bad weather? What do you do with your helmet and stuff? Hows parking?

For anyone whos curious I'm looking at a Yamaha xt225. http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/products/modelhome/9/home.aspx

man buy a used dirtbike with a street legal kit already installed and have it plated. its much cheaper than a street bike, and you wont have to worry about vandalism, etc. as much. plus then you can ride off-road on the weekends.

Bikes are fun, but you have to be very careful and if the weather's bad (rain, snow, etc.) you're SOAL.

oh sorry didnt even check the link. guess that is pretty much an enduro bike. definitely never heard of that model from yamaha... must've replaced the TTRs from a few years ago.

anyway not bad.

"man buy a used dirtbike with a street legal kit already installed and have it plated."

Yeah I was looking at that too. 400cc dirt bikes go for around 4k anyway. I might as well go for a 250 thats already setup for the street.

I personally have never wanted a motorcycle, so I can't speak about them (I much prefer nice sedans), but if you do ride one...

WEAR A HELMET!!!

I know in PA you don't need one to ride by law, but just consider Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger to be very lucky. He could have ended his career by not wearing one. Not sure about other states.

look into a honda CRF 450 with the street kit. before i moved to germany my dad sold his for $2700 only 2 years old. would be fun.

weather is the big problem with motorcycles. I have my liscense (yep, I'm a chick with a motorcycle add) but between winter weather in new england and rain all spring (hello mud season) the investment in a bike really wasn't worth it, since I have a car too. If you can live with not traveling or hitching public trans when the weather is icky, then a bike could work out for you.
