Mount Holyoke College Early Decision 1 (Class of 2021) Applicants Thread!!!

Hey! @finalsong I’m so glad I signed into my CC account (it’s been forever) and saw your post! I really hope that they reconsider you too. The community at Mt. Holyoke seems wonderful  can’t wait to be there next year

hello @MHC2021 !
Thank you for your kind words!
The admissions told me to submit additional financial documents and I did that, and now I’m just waiting for their reply.
If I get in, be sure to say hi in person!

Hey everybody! So excited to have been accepted to MHC today with a global perspective award of $10k per annum.
Unfortunately, I am in need of more aid than that. Is there a procedure to do so? Can I ask them? Will they take my admission back if I don’t qualify for more?
Please explain!
Hope y’all get in too

@intstudent2021 Financial aid for international students is limited. The award you got is a merit award. Did you apply for “need based” aid too? MHC policy is that international students must apply for financial aid at the same time the apply for admission. If you request more aid, they will not revoke your admission but are likely to deny your request as you did not comply with their policy.

IMPORTANT POINT: As you are an international student, you must demonstrate that you have the financial resources to attend the university to get your visa. This is true of any US university. If you cannot do so, your visa will be denied.

@exlibris97 YES, I had applied for need based aid.
I am yet to hear from them regarding the reconsideration of my aid.
Hmph…just looking for a bit of help around here.

@intstudent2021 As you applied for need based aid and they accepted you on that basis, you have nothing to lose by appealing. Make certain you have solid reasons (not just wanting more money). Be prepared to document anything that wasn’t apparent in your FA application, and highlight any new circumstances. In theory they met your full demonstrated need, so you will need to convince them that (1) something changed or (2) they misunderstood some aspect of your family’s financial situation.
