Hey everyone! I saw a thread from the class of 2020 for MHC ED1 so I thought I would start one for the class of 2021. I submitted my Early Decision 1 application on the 14th and I am so excited/anxious to find out my decision! Feel free to comment anything about MHC or why you applied ED, I’d love to have a discussion going. Also, for anyone who applied ED last year or before that, did you find out before January 1st?

Just a quick question - on my applicant status page, it says that my mid year report hasn’t been received yet. To the best of my understanding, the mid-year report are basically my grades after first semester? (My school does 2 semesters a year) If MHC releases decisions in January, but my high school finishes the first semester around the end of January… how does that work out? Will the admissions committee wait for my school to send their report before giving me their decision? Could they change their decision based on the mid-year report?
@archyr Note that I am not involved with admissions, so I don’t know any of this for certain, but based off what I know about the process, it seems extremely doubtful they’d hold your decision, especially if your school finishes the first semester in January (wow, that’s late!). A lot of high schools don’t have finals until after December, so they are able to make the decision without those grades. And you will hear about your decision on or before Jan. 1, since that is the cutoff date. However, it is possible to have an admissions decision rescinded. It’s rare, and usually seems to result from someone’s grades plummeting in their senior year (I’m talking D’s and F’s). I wouldn’t worry about it as long as you continue to put in effort in your classes and do the work in the same way you have been. Don’t let senioritis get to you and you’ll be fine.
