Mount Vernon dorms

If I decide to attend, I definitely want to live on the Mount Vernon Campus. Can anyone tell me about Clark, Cole, and Merriweather? Most specifically Merriweather.

I want to live on Mt. Vernon too, I think… even with the fact that I got accepted into UHP.

Mount Vernon is a nice place to live as a freshman. It gives a quaint, traditional campus vibe. One thing you’ve got to keep in mind is that many/most classes are at Foggy Bottom, as are most dining options, so you’ll be taking the shuttle back and forth all the time. That can take anywhere from 10 minutes to half an hour (or more) in traffic. It can become a pain and annoyance to have to commute back and forth each day, especially if you have spaced out classes and can’t come home for a few minutes because you live on another campus. Mount Vernon has its perks and its minuses (like the commute).

I’m a freshman living in Clark right now. The housing on the Vern is actually quite good, for the most part rooms are doubles attached to another double by a private bathroom. I think on some floors in some buildings, there are a few rooms with a shared community bathroom. The rooms are spacious and there are usually quite a few ways to arrange furniture. No bunk beds here. I’ve never been in Merriweather, which is the all-girl’s dorm, but from what I’ve seen, the Hillsides (Clark, Cole, Hensley, Merriweather) are all very similar in layout.
Like gwgrad pointed out, the most inconvenient part of living on the Vern is the commute to Foggy, which is made worse if you plan on being involved in student orgs or Greek life. However, it definitely is manageable and if you really want to live on the Vern, you’re likely to get your top pick of building since most people do not choose to live here.
