US News&World Report Rankings show Denison has advanced 2 spots in the listings for Liberal Arts Colleges from a tie for #53 to a tie for #51!

See the Princeton Review has also bumped them up significantly in their measures.

While we all might agree, silly and superficial as these rankings are, given our druthers, lower beats higher in USNWR and higher beats lower in The Princeton Review!

Must be all our smart offspring bumping these ratings up…:)

ABSOLUTELY! NO doubt about your hypothesis! ;)

I am not sure if my son can join NEValue and Whistle Pig’s group of smart offspring, but I am so excited mine will be a senior! Times flies! He can’t wait to return to campus in a week. Sad thing is the 4 boys have not decided who is supposed to bring what for the “apartment living”.

Hotel booked for graduation weekend. 3 more plane tickets to book and we are done!

Congrats Hopeful. DD1 is also a rising senior and has already moved into her senior “pad” since she was on campus for an internship. Good thing you already have the hotel booked. They seem to go at a premium for grad week.

hopeful820: our child will be a sophomore, so we still have some time till graduation. Just curious what hotels you looked into and what one you booked.

We booked at Courtyard by Marriott in Newark, about 10 minutes away from campus. We had stayed there when we first visited campus, liked it and stay every time we drop my son off in August and pick him up in May. Some parents like the Bed & Breakfasts in Granville. For graduation weekend, price in every hotel goes up, and most have 2 or 3 nights minimum.

We were thinking of staying closer to campus for graduation because of traffic, but we were a little late and the price in town was a lot more than what we wanted to pay. At one point, we were actually thinking of booking dorm rooms, $70 per night (double occupancy), because of convenience and not to have to worry about traffic and parking on campus that weekend, but family did not like that idea too much after all.

Which hotel have you stayed?

We’re staying at a Hampton Inn on the Columbus loop. We’ve stayed at a B&B outside Granville and liked it but needed room for the larger family. This works out well for DD’s younger brother who can swim in the pool.
