Does anyone have any idea when Elon will start accepting students off the waitlist?

Does anyone know anything about being moved off the waitlist?

I would not expect to hear anything until May 1 at the earliest. Be sure you student has been in touch with your regional rep to convey their sincere interest in Elon. If Elon is their number one choice and they will attend if accepted off the waitlist - say so.

Thanks rockvillemom. She has contacted her regional rep. This is her top choice school and she will do anything to show Elon that she will be an asset to the school if given the chance.

Based on past history, Elon usually ends up admitting about 10% of the students who opt to remain on the wait list. So it is clearly not impossible to get in from WL… but with a 1-in-10 chance I’d also focus on helping your child find something to love about the schools which have already admitted him/her.

Agree completely about making a selection from the acceptances you have in hand - putting down a deposit - and being happy about that selection.

But that being said - you still can try to move off the waitlist at Elon. You may want to consider - sending updated grades, another teacher rec from a senior year teacher, an update to your regional rep on any awards or accomplishments since the app was submitted, etc. Some will advise against sending any additional materials - but I will tell you from experience that many students do send additional items anyway - and at this point - how could it hurt? Elon is a school that counts demonstrated interest - so I personally would send new materials to the attention of the regional rep if she has new achievements to add to her application.
