Moving our students in

Move in day for us is August 14. I’m curious about how long are other parents going to stay in Auburn after their freshman moves in. I’m not sure if I should move my daughter in and leave town or if I should hang around a day or two and make sure she has everything she needs.

I know my D would want me to leave- she is upcoming HS senior- they can find the Wal Mart or whatever they need- they are in college- remember?

Well my daughter is moving day is August 6th because she’s a RAT(Rookie Auburn Tiger in the Auburn University Marching Band). We plan to move her stuff into her dorm room, have lunch with her and then say good-bye. I’m sure she will push us out the door because after Camp War Eagle she can not wait to become immersed in college. If she forgot something, then there always her feet, bike, or Tiger Transit.
BTW, her mother has a checklist that’s pretty exhaustive.

We plan to move in our daughter and spend the night in Auburn. It is a 5-hour drive for us, and I remember seeing on former postings that some parents were so glad they stayed that night, mainly because they had done so much extra running to Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, etc. and were basically EXHAUSTED. We also figure that way our daughter has the option if she wants to see/do anything with us (i.e., find some way for us to spend some extra money on anything additional she might need!) before we leave on that Sunday. However, she will have her car so that may not be her preference! We don’t plan to get in the way one way or the other!! She, too, is SO READY to get settled in following our Camp War Eagle experience last week!

We are assuming that our move-in day will be August 14, since our daughter is not planning to go the sorority route. However, has anyone received any information from Housing yet other than the info that came out in April? I think I remember seeing that they actually assign staggered times for move-in, so I am not sure what point in the day she will be able to get into her room. She will be living with a Learning Community in the Village.

This is all new to us. Does anyone have any further information from past years’ experience or any new info to share about this year? Thanks in advance.

Our daughter wants to move in August 7 so she can participate in Sorority Rush. At this moment she doesn’t want to actually pledge, but she wants to rush to meet more people.

Has any freshman received their housing assignment yet? If so, did it come snail mail or email? Thanks.

last week at CWE, they told us it would be via snail mail in mid june. for those who said what “their” move-in day is, how do you know? just cuz organizations/activities they’re doing?

I can’t find it now, but I did read an official schedule that had the two move-in dates as Saturday, August 7th and Saturday August 14th. If any girl want to rush in a sorority, then they need to move in on the first date. Fraternities rush later.

Also, my daughter called housing today and was told that assignment letters would be mailed out at the end of this week or early next week.

D and I are flying out on August 10 for the 14th move-in day. We will spend the extra time shopping and visiting Atlanta. I will stay in Auburn until the 16th. I’ve already told D that she can pretend I’m not there after the 14th, unless she needs a car to run last-minute errands. We’re coming from California, and I want to make sure we’ve thought of everything because she won’t have access to a car once I leave.

Still haven’t heard on housing.
