I'm currently a premed student and want to become a surgeon. I love traveling and am even open to the idea of moving to another country (not permanently). I'm curious how flexible it is to move to another country once you become a doctor? I live in the US right now, but would like to move somewhere in Europe for a little while (not right now, but sometime in the far future). Any advice or positive comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

It depends on the country. You could always do something like “Doctors without Boarders” and some surgeons live in the US but participate in charity trips to do surgery in the third world.

What do you mean it depends on the country? And I didn’t know about charity trips like that, but it definitely sounds like something I’d be interested in. Thanks.

LOL-- its Doctors without Borders. Love the double entendre of the typo! That said, this thread is 4 years old!! The OP is probably, hopefully, in med school and doing as he/she hoped.
Besides Doctors w/o Borders, lots of other NGOs need doctors overseas. If u sign up w the US military, Uncle Sam wil even pay for medical school, and you’ll have all kinds of opportunities for overseas assignments.
Please use old threads for research and start your own thread for questions.
